Course Highlights:
Grade 8 is the end stage of middle school or the beginning of high school in most education systems around the world. In any case, grade 8 or year 8 is a stage in which children are expected to read and understand sophisticated texts, answer inferential questions, write extended essays, and interpret diagrams and graphs. At this stage, children are also expected to speak grammatically accurate English fluently and understand spoken language in different registers.
Grade 8 English is designed to ensure students learn the grammar and vocabulary skills needed to communicate effectively. Lessons included in this collection address some of the same learning objectives and can help students discover how to use proper verb forms, avoid punctuation or spelling errors, and acquire new vocabulary terms.
By the end of the course:
The learner has explored a wide range of texts to:
- respond critically and recognize ideas
- distinguish between fact and opinion and identify how style and content can influence point of view
- recognize and understand different forms, text structures, and language features and apply them
- compose different kinds of texts
- use English in different contexts for different purposes and audiences
